Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is included in a DIY Guitar Kit?

Budreau Guitars’ DIY Guitar Kits include everything you need to build a functional instrument. The bodies and necks are cut using precision CNC machines. The body and necks are matched in the factory for a snug fit. You only need to supply the finishing supplies such as paint, stain, dye, clear, sandpaper, and wood glue for set neck models. Our build manual is also included with every kit.

    All of the hardware including

    • Tunning gears
    • Bridge, saddles, or tremolo
    • Nut
    • Pickups
    • Controls
    • Jack and jack plate
    • Strap buttons
    • Strings
    • String trees/retainers (for specific models)
    • Pickguards (most models)

  • Why build a Budreau Guitars kit?

The satisfaction of building your own instrument is indescribable. You will have the choice to use the hardware included with the kit or source name brand components to meet your exact desire for look, tone, and/or functionality. You personalize the finish with paint, wood stain, or dye. You get to determine if it will be a high gloss or satin finish. Depending on the style of kit you can choose the difficulty of the build.

  • Do you sell the body and neck without the hardware?

We do not currently stock individual necks or bodies. We also cannot breakup our kits. With all of the hardware included with the kit you are bound to find some of it useful, even if you source name brand hardware elsewhere.

  • How are your prices so competitive?

Budreau Guitars imports kits directly from the factories in China. There are no middle-men involved. The kits are made to our specifications with an eye toward quality and sound pricing.

  • How soon can I expect my order?

All orders are shipped within 24 hours from our Noblesville Indiana location. Most shipments arrive within 2-5 days depending on distance and carrier logistics.

  • Which kits are best for a first time builder?

For the beginner which style you start with depends upon your personal experience on setting up a guitar and woodwork skills. All of our kits will require a small amount of soldering for completing the electronics. With enough patience even a beginner can complete our most difficult builds. We encourage you to do some research online or reach out to us for answers. We are always willing to offer advice.

Each of our kits are labeled as being appropriate for Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced skill levels.

    • Bolt on necks with solid tail bridges are the the simplest to assemble and therefore best for Novice level builders.
    • Set necks (glued in place) with solid tail bridges are the Intermediate skill level.
    • Kits that include Tremolos or Vibrato bridges are listed as Advanced skill level.
